Fr Peter Sibert RIP

Today, on the twenty-first anniversary of his death, please remember in your prayers Fr Peter Sibert. Parish Priest of Our Lady of Reconciliation, Eldon Street between 1996 and 2005.

Peter Sibert was born in Roby on 13th November 1938. He trained at Upholland, being Ordained 12 June 1965. Father Sibert served first as Curate at St Michael’s, Ditton, then from 1972 at Ss Peter & Paul’s, Crosby.

From 1983 to 1986, he was part of the Skelmersdale Team Ministry before being appointed Parish Priest at St Patrick’s, Wigan from 1986 to 1996. During this time, he was also the local Dean.

After a decade at St Patrick’s, he then moved to Our Lady’s, Eldon Street, Liverpool where he undertook a major project of restoration of the historic Pugin church. During this time, he also served as Chairman of the Council of Priests for the Archdiocese of Liverpool.

We give thanks to the considerable work he did for our Community and are proud to have his sister Frances on our Board of Trustees.
