Board Statement
Saturday, 14th February 2026
Dear Residents,
The Trustees of the Eldonian Community Trust are aware of an anonymous letter falsely purporting to have been issued by or on behalf of the Charity and concerning Lord Christopher Rennard, Chair of the Trust. This correspondence was not authorised, issued, or endorsed by the Charity. The letter refers to historic allegations from around fourteen years ago, which were previously investigated by the police and independently reviewed. No criminal charges were brought, and no further action was taken.
The unconflicted Trustees have, in accordance with their legal duties, reviewed the correspondence and the information available. As the historic allegations were investigated by the Police and no further action was taken, the Trustees have determined that there is no proper basis for the Charity to take any further action in relation to those matters.
The Trustees have also formally reported the purported letter to the Police and to the Charity Commission, on the basis that it appears to misrepresent the Charity and contains inaccurate and misleading claims.
The Charity continues to operate as normal and remains focused on serving the community. The Trustees will continue to monitor the situation and fulfil their obligations under charity law. Unless circumstances materially change, the Trustees do not intend to make further comment at this time.
